I take it all back about Palin..

McCain did, in fact, do something smart in choosing her. He's led a totally uninteresting and almost ignorable campaign before now; she's stirred up all kinds of media attention with her scandals.

Bravo! McCain's campaign got some attention and free media coverage finally! Now if he'd only know how to take advantage of this... oh, well.

It's more than that.

They're also pissed because he really did surprise them, and they had nothing ready to go. It's sort of a big "FU, if you're going to make us actually do work; we're going to report what we find instead of your talking points."
