Because, we've been had. I mean, if I saw this in the Guardian, I'd probably not consider it solid news, but it's from ABCNews, not one of the places you'd find this sort of stuff coming out of. What is it? Welll,

Claim: U.S. Government Spurned Peace Talks Before the War With Iraq

Nov. 5— A possible negotiated peace deal was laid out in a heavily guarded compound in Baghdad in the days before the war, ABCNEWS has been told, but a top former Pentagon adviser says he was ordered not to pursue the deal, ABCNEWS has learned.

Please read the rest. This is pretty amazing stuff, and it shows just how intent on war at all costs our current regime was. Yes, the article does mention that Iraqi had missed chances to talk peace before, but how many of those times were when we had soldiers sitting on their borders? Somehow, I doubt this time they would have missed this meeting. And I agree with Hage, we should have at least tried to talk.
